What Does Tom Ford Lost Cherry Smell Like?

Tom Ford Lost Cherry is a boozy, syrupy-sweet cherry almond fragrance, perfect for the fall and winter and as a holiday season fragrance.

Lost Cherry opens with the scent of sweet, syrupy, candied maraschino cherries. The cherry liqueur and bitter almond notes are strong, giving me nostalgic vibes of almond cherry Christmas desserts and cherry liqueur chocolates.

The floral middle notes become present about 15 minutes in, with the rose shining through for about 30 minutes, along with some added dark fruity sweetness from the plum.

From the opening throughout the dry down, there is also a depth to the fragrance, with the spicy and woody base notes present, balancing the sweetness. The dark cherry almond sweetness remains present throughout the dry down.

Overall, Lost Cherry, is a warm, sweet, boozy cherry almond fragrance with a photorealistic maraschino cherry opening and a deeply sweet and slightly spicy cherry almond dry down.

  • Top Notes: Bitter Almond, Black Cherry, Cherry Liqueur
  • Middle Notes: Sour Cherry, Plum, Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac
  • Base Notes: Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Peru Balsam, Benzoin, Sandalwood, Cloves, Cedar, Patchouli, Vetiver

Performance

While the scent of Lost Cherry is beautiful and intense, the intensity is short-lived with moderate projection. I get average longevity from Lost Cherry, with it lasting around 7 hours, but becoming a more subtle skin scent within 4 – 5 hours. This isn’t completely unexpected for a fruity fragrance though.

A common complaint about Lost Cherry is poor longevity,  however, this may be due to nose-blindness. Lost Cherry is one of those fragrances where you sometimes stop smelling it on yourself but others can easily still smell it on you.

When to Wear Tom Ford Lost Cherry

Lost Cherry is quite versatile with its limited longevity and projection. I would wear Lost Cherry pretty much anywhere during the fall and winter months, though it can easily be worn year round as well. Do keep in mind that it is a very sweet fragrance if you choose to wear it to the office and don’t over spray.

Lost Cherry shines as a fragrance for nights out, where you can apply more liberally and not expect 12 hours of performance from a fragrance.

Price

Lost Cherry is on the high end of the price spectrum, priced much higher than the average designer fragrance.

Lost Cherry is part of Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection, intended to be niche-quality designer fragrances. [1]

Although it comes with a steep price tag, Lost Cherry is one of Tom Ford’s most popular fragrances.
