What Does Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar Smell Like?

Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar is a sweet gourmand with a generous side of floral patchouli

Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar reminds me of Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle Le Parfum, with its sweet and spicy pear note, and Lattafa Teriaq, with its deeply sweet caramel note.

Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar is not quite what I expected, it has more depth and floral patchouli than I anticipated by the name. But that isn’t to say this doesn’t live up to its name at all.

The sugary sweet notes are strong in the opening. To me, it’s the candied pear and caramel that really stand out, with the rest of the candy notes in the background.

This isn’t a purely sweet candy fragrance though. There is a floral powdery note present from the opening throughout the drydown, and the patchouli is quite loud throughout as well.

If you enjoy sweet fruitchouli fragrances, this will be right up your alley, and I personally do enjoy this one quite a bit. If you are looking for a sweet gourmand candy type of fragrance, you may enjoy Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar as long as you don’t mind the addition of warm floral and patchouli notes.

  • Top Notes: Candied Pear, Violet Leaves, Rum, Ylang-Ylang, Marshmallow, Vanilla Cream
  • Middle Notes: Jasmine, Labdanum, White Caramel, Bubble Gum, Jellybean
  • Base Notes: Tonka, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cashmere Woods, Patchouli, Rock Sugar, KAYALI Signature Accord

Performance

Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar has average longevity of 6 – 8 hours with decent projection for the first few hours. This isn’t a beast mode fragrance, but it does create a nice scent bubble and it lingers on clothes.

When to Wear Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar

This is a pretty versatile fragrance that will work well in all seasons. Its scent profile is warm enough for the winter, but light enough to not be cloying and overpowering in the summer.

Its lightness also makes it appropriate for most settings and an easy reach for daily wear.

Price

Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar is priced similarly to the rest of the Kayali line, on par with average designer fragrances.

FAQ

Is Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar unisex?

Yes, as all fragrances are truly gender-neutral. Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar does lean toward the traditionally feminine side with its very sweet and floral scent profile. However, this type of fragrance can be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys warm, sweet, fruitchouli fragrances!

As a woman, I often wear fragrances marketed to men, and I know many men enjoy fragrances marketed to women.

Can Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar be worn year-round, or is it more seasonal?

Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar will work well in all seasons. It is sweet and warm enough for the cold winter days while being light enough for spring and summer heat.

What is a fruitchouli fragrance?

Fruitchouli is a name used to refer to fragrances where both the sweet fruit notes and the patchouli notes are dominant.

Fruit notes and patchouli are very common in many fragrances, but they aren’t always strong. In a fruitchouli, there is no mistaking the sweet fruit and patchouli notes!

What do the numbers mean in Kayali fragrances?

The numbers refer to the number of modifications that it took to reach the final scent. So, in this case, it took 42 formulations to reach the perfected Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar.

Final Thoughts

While Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar isn’t quite what I expected with the addition of floral and patchouli notes, it is worth a smell. I’m a sucker for sweet gourmands and fruitchoulis, and I will be adding Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar to my fragrance rotation.
