Cheirosa ’62 is a sweet and warm floral gourmand.

This is a very beachy and summery type of fragrance, though I do enjoy it year-round.

Cheirosa ’62 has impressive performance and longevity.

Cheirosa ‘62 is the OG Sol de Janeiro fragrance, the scent that started it all.

Cheirosa ‘62 is a sweet, warm, well-blended floral gourmand with a very distinctive scent. The salted caramel and vanilla bring a creamy, sweet warmth, while the floral notes balance the sweetness.

This isn’t a pure gourmand, as the floral notes are quite prominent. The pistachio and almond linger smoothly in the background, obvious but not overpowering.

This is a very summery, beachy fragrance, with a hint of coconut, though it isn’t listed in the notes. Even though it has a beachy vibe, I also enjoy Cheirosa ‘62 year-round, as it is strong for a body spray, and its warmth and sweetness are perfect for colder temperatures.

Cheirosa ‘62 is a strong performer for a body spray. I find that it easily lasts all day, and it has fairly strong projection for the first few hours.

  • Top Notes: Pistachio, Almond
  • Middle Notes: Heliotrope, Jasmine Petals
  • Base Notes: Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Sandalwood

✓ Pros

  • Long-lasting for a body spray
  • Low price
  • Distinctive warm, sweet, floral gourmand scent

✗ Cons

  • Some find it synthetic
  • Some think it doesn’t deserve the hype it receives

Rio Radiance is a beachy, solar floral fragrance.

Although there is a coconut note, the light solar floral notes are stronger in Rio Radiance. Don’t expect a heavy coconut fragrance!

I absolutely love Rio Radiance, and it doesn’t get the attention that it deserves!

Rio Radiance is a beautiful, beachy, solar floral fragrance. This is one of my favorite summertime, beach vibes, sunscreen-type fragrances. The solar florals blend with the coconut and vanilla to create a light and fresh summery scent. This isn’t sweet and heavy on the coconut, it leans much more on the floral side.

The only downside to Rio Radiance is its longevity. It has a typical body spray longevity of about 4 hours, but it is heavenly during that period of time.

I personally only wear Rio Radiance during the summer. As with all fragrances, wear any fragrance whenever it suits you, but this one that I like to associate with summer vibes.

  • Top Notes: Leite de Coco, Warm Sand
  • Middle Notes: Solar Tuberose, Ylang Ylang
  • Base Notes: Creamy Vanilla, Amber Essence

✓ Pros

  • Beachy solar floral, fantastic summer fragrance
  • Low price

✗ Cons

  • Poor longevity

Cheirosa ’68 is strikingly similar to Baccarat Rouge 540.

This isn’t an exact dupe though, as Cheirosa ’68 is sweeter and fruitier.

Cheirosa ’68 is very long-lasting and great for year-round wear.

While not an exact dupe, Cheirosa ‘68 has definite Baccarat Rouge 540 vibes. It has a very strong resemblance to Baccarat Rouge 540, with a sweet and fruity twist.

Cheirosa ‘68 is light, airy, and sweet, with the sweet fruit notes strong in the opening and throughout the dry down. The florals are light and not overpowering, and the ocean air and musk notes bring in an airy light aspect.

Cheirosa ‘68 is incredibly long-lasting in my experience, especially for a body spray. If I apply it in the morning, I can easily still smell it 8 hours later. I have read reviews that mention poor longevity, but I do wonder if that is caused by nose-blindness. This may be the case, as the scent profile of Baccarat Rouge does often cause nose-blindness.

Cheirosa ‘68 is very versatile, as even though it is powerful for a body spray, it is still light and airy. It is a great choice for summer, but can also work year-round!

  • Top Notes: Pink Dragonfruit, Lychee Essence
  • Middle Notes: Brazilian Jasmine, Ocean Air, Hibiscus
  • Base Notes: Sheer Vanilla, Sun Musk

✓ Pros

  • Strong resemblance to Baccarat Rouge 540, with a sweet and fruity side
  • Long-lasting for a body spray
  • Smells more expensive than it is
  • Low price

✗ Cons

  • Some find it too sweet
  • Some find it medicinal

Cheirosa ’71 is a very realistic gourmand fragrance.

This smells like a freshly baked white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with caramel on top.

Cheirosa ’71 has impressive longevity and projection.

If you are looking for a true gourmand, Cheirosa ‘71 is it!

Cheirosa ‘71 smells exactly like a fresh white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with caramel on top. Some people get more of a buttery caramel popcorn, but I get pure freshly baked cookies from this one.

This is another body spray with impressive performance. It has both excellent longevity, easily lasting all day, as well as strong projection for the first few hours.

Being a fairly strong and very realistic gourmand, Cheirosa ‘71 isn’t quite as versatile as the others in the Sol de Janeiro lineup, but it is a great choice for fall and winter.

  • Top Notes: Caramelized Vanilla, Sea Salt
  • Middle Notes: Toasted Macadamia Nut, White Chocolate
  • Base Notes: Tonka Bean, Coconut Blossom

✓ Pros

  • Realistic freshly baked white chocolate macadamia nut caramel cookie scent
  • Excellent performance
  • Low price

✗ Cons

  • Too realistic or sweet for some people
  • May be too cloying in warm weather

Cheirosa ’59 is a sugary sweet and powdery, soft floral fragrance.

I am strongly reminded of Pink Sugar with a side of powdery florals added.

Cheirosa ’59 is very versatile with decent longevity for a body spray.

Cheirosa ‘59 is unique in the Sol de Janeiro lineup, with a sweet and powdery floral scent.

Cheirosa ‘59 very much reminds me of Aquolina Pink Sugar with the addition of powdery floral notes.

I find the sugared violet, vanilla orchid, and whipped amber notes stand out the most here, creating a soft, powdery, sugary sweet floral fragrance.

I have also read many reviews that mention Cheirosa ‘59 smelling like a vanilla cupcake. I’m not sure I agree with that, as to me the sweetness isn’t a baked vanilla goods gourmand type of sweet, but more of a pure sugar type of sweet.

I get average longevity from Cheirosa ‘59, with around 6 hours of wear with low to moderate projection.

Cheirosa ‘59 is highly versatile, as it is light and inoffensive. It is a great choice for wearing to the office, or pretty much any other occasion, in every season of the year.

  • Top Notes: Velvet Plum, Sugared Violet
  • Middle Notes: Vanilla Orchid, Whipped Amber
  • Base Notes: Sheer Sandalwood, Fresh Vetiver

✓ Pros

  • Sugary sweet, powdery floral fragrance
  • Very versatile

✗ Cons

  • Some experience poor longevity
  • Some find it too sweet

How to Choose the Best Sol de Janeiro Fragrance

When choosing a new perfume, consider your budget, when and where you plan on wearing the fragrance, and what kind of longevity you are looking for.

Price

Sol de Janeiro body sprays are all priced quite low, making it worth the purchase even for those with shorter longevity.

Season and Occasion

Most of Sol de Janeiro fragrances are very versatile and work well year-round and for most occasions. The exceptions here are Rio Radiance, which is a very summery fragrance, and Cheirosa ‘71, which works best in cooler weather.

Always experiment and wear whatever feels good to you, regardless of season or occasion!

Longevity

Sol de Janeiro body sprays range in performance and strength. For the most part, they perform quite well for body sprays, which usually only last a few hours. In particular, Cheirosa ‘62, Cheirosa ‘68, and Cheirosa ‘71 all last a full day.

Personally, I tend not to use longevity as a criteria when choosing a fragrance. I base my selection on the scent itself, and if needed, I reapply throughout the day, or layer with a longer-lasting fragrance.

Sol de Janeiro makes matching body creams with the same scents as Cheirosa ‘62, Cheirosa ‘68, and Cheirosa ‘59 that you can layer with your body spray. You can also experiment with layering other body lotions and fragrances for longer-lasting combinations.
