Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male

Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male

Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male is a stunning sweet, fruity, and slightly spicy vanilla fragrance.

JPG Ultra Male Notes

Ultra Male opens with fruity, bubblegum sweetness. The sweet pear and vanilla notes are balanced by a subtle freshness from the mint and citrus notes, and a hint of spice from the cinnamon and caraway.

Ultra Male keeps its blend of sweet vanilla and subtle spice throughout its lengthy drydown. The original JPG Le Male DNA is also very subtly present throughout, with a touch of clean freshness present throughout.

Ultra Male is more versatile than many reviews claim. This is not only for the young crowd or clubbing. While you do have to be aware of how much you apply for daytime wear, especially in warmer weather, Ultra Male is a worthy addition to anyone’s daily rotation.

If you enjoy sweet fragrances, do yourself a favor and get your nose on Ultra Male!

✓ Pros

  • Amazing blend of sweet pear and vanilla, subtle spicy cinnamon, and a hint of fresh citrus and herbs
  • Great performance in both longevity and projection

✗ Cons

  • Not for those who don’t enjoy sweet fragrances
  • Easy to over-spray for some occasions

Afnan 9pm

Afnan 9pm is a very close clone of Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male. This is a high-quality fragrance at a very affordable price.

Afnan 9pm Notes

Afnan 9pm opens with a sweetness similar to Ultra Male, with a slight difference, as the fruity note here is apple, compared to pear in Ultra Male. The cinnamon is also a touch stronger in the opening of 9pm compared to Ultra Male.

Afnan 9pm has the hint of freshness that Ultra Male has as well, present from the lavender and citrus notes.

Overall, Afnan 9pm’s blend of sweet, spicy, and fresh notes is strikingly similar to Ultra Male. The balance of the notes has some slight differences, with Afnan 9pm being a bit more spicy, and Ultra Male a bit more fresh/clean.

Personally, I love both, but I prefer Afnan 9pm, as I enjoy the slightly stronger cinnamon note!
